Photos: Michigan Upper Peninsula

Voyageur outside Manistique.

Self-explanatory.

Bart Simpson runs for office in Michigan.

We get endless amusement out of being attacked by plastic fish.

And we thought Alison was Our Lady of the Highway.

A Star Trek fan finds a home.

Hey you guys! Tell Alison to ignore the comments - the photos tell the story. She is looking THIN and tan!! Whoohoo! Way to be a fox! Dan is looking pretty sleek too, although Rob wants to tell Dan he has a bug smashed on his chin. A big hairy one. Hannah and I want you guys to take a small detour once you're over the big bridge, just SW of Mackinaw and go see the town of Bliss! I'll bet it's full of sweet black labs! Just one more week and Bliss will be on vacation at the Mt. Hood spa with Xela. She's very excited. We're getting the bikes geared up. We've decided to pack an extra tire, 6 tubes, a bottom bracket, and extra suntan lotion. Rob and Hannah sure had a great time at Disneyland. I'll download the pics to Snapfish and mail the address to your e-mail in case Sonia and Gus want to see the pics. Hope the trip is getting a little more interesting. We're busy selling the vanagon. Hopefully we'll get $40K for it to repay all our mechanic bills!
Keep going you guys! You're doing GREAT!!

Hi Guys,
I think Dan's smashed bug chin attire compliments his head top solar panel nicely. An individual and a trekky to boot. A man after my own heart, however Dan you should look around if someone is taking photo's of you . Does the other sign in the picture indicate that like all mad cyclists ( including myself) you have water on the brain.

What are the odds? I am a complete stranger from Minnesota. My sister lives in Walla Walla and showed me your blog. I'm hooked, and even inspired to ride my bike. I was looking at your posts from July 5 - in particular the sign from Larimore, ND - home of Stephanie Fisher. I know her and have sent a link to your site to her - it's nice you noticed...

It would be interesting to know just how many people are watching your blog site. I got an e-mail from Larry Seabert's sister, Lynne, in Boise, ID who said she reads your news while eating breakfast every morning! Now the guy from MI who has the sister in WW. Small world!!
I don't know if you're ever going to get Xela back! She adores the big guy!! This am I let her out at 7:30 and he was gone getting mower parts. She raced up to the north garage door, smelled around, looked at the top of the garage door, as if expecting it to open momentarily. When it didn't, she laid down, ready to wait for him all day if necessary. She's never farther than a foot away from him. He thinks it's amusing and scratches her head. She's happy.
The squashed bug is interesting, just interesting, having never appreciated lipair myself. What does Gus think of it. (He's the vocal one.) Elaine
